Coach Clay - Bringing Experience & Purpose to OWA
In a significant addition to the Oklahoma Wildcats Academy (OWA) coaching staff, Coach Clay Bazile joins the organization as Head Softball Coach, bringing with him extensive experience and a passion for developing young athletes both on and off the field.
Military Background and Athletic Career
Coach Clay's journey began on Shepherd Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, where he grew up in a military family with his father serving in the Air Force. Following his own path of service, Coach Clay became an Army veteran, where he distinguished himself as what he calls a "legendary home run hitter" for the Army team, earning two gold medals and a silver medal while competing for the All-Army team.
His athletic prowess wasn't limited to his military service. Coming out of high school, Coach Clay had an opportunity with the New York Yankees, but ultimately took his talents to Hill College where he continued his baseball career.
Family Legacy in Sports
Athletics runs deep in the Bazile family. His brother played for the Oklahoma Sooners from 2002-2004, and his daughter recently completed her collegiate softball career at Arlington Baptist University.
Coaching Philosophy
"I'm very passionate about the game," Coach Clay emphasizes. His coaching approach centers on building strength in numbers and creating an environment where athletes can thrive together. "We strengthen in numbers," he says, highlighting his belief in team cohesion and collective development.
Prior to joining OWA, Coach Clay spent three years as an Operations Manager for a sporting facility, managing equipment and operations, experience that will serve him well in his new role.
Alignment with OWA's Purpose-Driven Mission
Coach Clay's enthusiasm for the OWA vision is evident. "Y'all got me motivated now," he shared during a recent staff meeting, expressing his excitement about the program's direction under new leadership. He connects deeply with the purpose-driven approach of OWA, which focuses not just on athletic development but on connecting students to their greater purpose.
As OWA continues its growth as a fully accredited independent private school with its own seven-hour curriculum, Coach Clay's experience and passion will be instrumental in building a successful softball program that emphasizes both athletic excellence and personal development.
Coach Clay says, adding, "We're going to make it fun. We're going to make it to where it's going to benefit them."
With Coach Clay at the helm of the softball program, Oklahoma Wildcats Academy adds another dedicated mentor committed to guiding student-athletes toward reaching their full potential both in sports and in life.
